Kaya Chitra began in Surat in 2019 with one studio and a simple idea: the first year of a family's life deserves to be photographed properly, not squeezed into a rushed hour.
From one photographer to a team
What began as one photographer's work is now a full team — photographers, editors, a studio coordinator and a client team who between them make sure nothing about your session is left to chance. We built a permanent studio in Vesu with a heated newborn setup and our own prop library, and trained everyone who handles a baby in safety posing.
We invented Live Projection
Most dramatic maternity imagery is built in Photoshop. Ours is cast onto the subject and captured in camera. Five signature concepts came out of that work, and as far as we know no other studio in India offers it.
Now in four cities
Surat remains home. Since 2026 we also travel to Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Vadodara on scheduled dates, with the same team, the same setups and the same standards.

Hi, I'm Mridul.
Since 2019, over a thousand moms have trusted the Kaya Chitra team with their most fleeting days — the bump, the first yawn, the beautiful chaos after. We started Kaya Chitra with one belief: these moments deserve more than a camera click.
I also founded Kaya Chitra Academy (KCA) — where I train the next generation of photographers in Surat. Teaching and shooting keep me honest about what great photography actually takes.
